Peter and Luke McCoubrey began their filmmaking careers with a number of music videos that garnered them accolades from MTV, Pitchfork, The New York Times, and Entertainment Weekly.
Their short horror dramedy The Grey Matter was the recipient of the CANAL + Grand Prix Court-Métrage at the L'Etrange Festival, one of Europe's premiere genre film festivals. It premiered online via Short of the Week and is currently a Vimeo Staff Pick with over 150k views. Their latest short film Therefore I Am, a surreal lo-fi time travel thriller is also a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Peter has directed alongside Academy Award winning director Spike Jonze for the Beastie Boys. Luke also works as a cinematographer with numerous award winning directors including Derek Cianfrance, Ron Howard, Steve Buscemi, and Terry Gilliam.
The brothers ventured into television with a MTV series titled The Gamekillers. Which was the recipient of a Cannes Lion and One Show award. They have traveled around the world numerous times to create documentaries, lifestyle, and content films for Apple. They've written, shot and directed original short films for Adidas, American Express, the NBA and Tommy Hilfiger, traveled to Argentina to shoot LG commercials, launched LYNX (AXE) with a series of spots and films in China, as well as directed NFL superstars for both the NFL Network and Madden for Playstation.
